Afterlife

Unlike Jonah Hex, Resident Evil Afterlife is very enjoyable. Yes its a by the numbers zombie shoot em up, but its never dull, and it exploits every oportunity to look badass.
It may not be the most heartfelt movie, and certainly has room to improve, but its high gloss gore-filled fun. Lots of guns, lots of zombies, and lots of predictable one liners.
Last time I checked, watching sexy women kill monsters and hoards of zombies is always in style. Another thing I liked about Afterlife and the other Resident Evil movies is how they each have a distinct feel and style, and beyond director Anderson's fondness for slow motion, he doesnt always hit the right notes. With the second movie being the obvious lowest point of this series, its all but forgotten by 2010 with Afterlife blasting in with both barrels blazing. Is it a good movie? Yes and no. The acting is good, but the plot and dialogue is often painfully predictable. Whatever directorial talent Anderson has, he saved up for a few surprises, but it seems forced and semi-cliche.
I would own Afterlife, because its a movie that LOOKS cool, and can hold itself together pretty well. Tons of explosions, plenty of shootouts, lots of gore, tons of zombies, and a few hotties... what more did you expect?
I loved it.
